چکیده

Objective 1: Define the safety and efficacy of the multiclade DNA prime/rAd5 boost VRC candidate HIV-1 vaccine. Objective 2: Define immunological correlates of vaccine-induced protection from HIV-1 acquisition and/or disease progression to advance development of an HIV-1 candidate Objective 1: Determine the structure of a trimeric HIV-1 Envelope spike and delineate how oligomerization influences immunogenicity and evasion from antibody-mediated Objective 3: Develop immunogens and immunization strategies that elicit neutralizing antibodies reactive with the conserved membrane-proximal external region (MPER) of Objective 1: Develop filovirus vaccines and immunization strategies in nonhuman primates that will support ongoing efforts to define an optimal human vaccine. Objective 2: Define cellular and humoral immune responses that correlate with protection against filovirus infection in NHP and survival in humans.. Objective 4: To develop a NHP model for mucosal and cutaneous infection with Ebola virus, and to identify vaccine protection for these routes of exposure. .

A Shot at Dendritic Cell-Based Vaccine Strategy against HIV-1

Introduction: Despite considerable efforts to control AIDS pandemic, it is still one of the significant infectious concerns worldwide. The advance in medical research has led to the development of highly active antiretroviral therapy with a considerable effect to suppress the disease. However, an effective vaccine capable of eradication the HIV pandemic is not available yet. Failure to develop ...

Immunogenicity of a New HIV-1 DNA Construct in a BALB/c Mouse Model

Background: Cell mediated immunity, especially cytotoxic T cell responses against HIV-1 infection, plays a critical role in controlling viral replication and disease progres-sion. DNA vaccine is a novel technology which is known to stimulate strong cellular immune responses. Many DNA vaccines have been tested for HIV infection but there is still no effective vaccine against this infection. Cons...

Assessment of protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection by measuring antibody titer, yes or no!

Dear Editor The current epidemic of the novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) risen from Wuhan, China, turned into a worldwide concern because of its incubation period (2-14 days) and its high transmission rate. The first cases of the infection were reported in December 2019 in Wuhan with symptoms like pneumonia for an unknown reason. Very soon it was known as a novel kind of Coronavirus o...

Reduction of HIV-1 load in semen during follow-up study of RV144 vaccine trial boosts interest for novel correlates of immune protection in genital mucosa.

The design and production of effective vaccines against human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) are persisting major challenges for the HIV-1 scientific community. It also remains unclear which immune correlates should be considered as part of a successful HIV-1 vaccine and in which tissues these correlates should be measured. The discussion, which has been ongoing for the 30 years since HI...
